In the word NEWS the contained letter N,E,W,and S means North,East,West,and South respectively.Thus news is the information of happenings from all directions. Newspapers collect news from news agencies like UNI,PTI,Reuters and through their own correspondents. News peper reach every nook and corner of the world by aeroplanes,trains,buses and cars. Hawkers serve them door to door.

News peper provide ingormation about happings,education,culture,cinema and literature.They enable the government to know about public opinion. In 1975,Indira government supporessed the freedom of the press. So the should not feel the  pule\se of the public opinion. The result was that she along with her party was  badly defeated in the elections.During elections newspepers help voters to know about their candidates and their political ideas. Businessman find their business columns and marriage aspirants their matrimonials.Young generation get sports,entertainment and general knowledge.the jobless get vacancies. Advertisement prove to be usefull to all sections of people.

News papers have great responsibilities. They should avoid 'yellow

journalism',provocation,communalism,partiality,prejudices,rumours and sesational news. In stead,they should promote harmony,nationality,hamanity,liberty,equality and fraternity. They should not misuse the freedom given to the media. They should be impartial in their news and views.
